Business purpose
MT201 (Multiple Financial Institution Transfer for its Own Account) and MT203 (Multiple General Financial Institution Transfer) batched several FI-to-FI debits or credits into a single message.
What does NOT map cleanly
Swift lists MT201 and MT203 as withdrawn payment message types rather than giving them a designated one-message ISO successor. CBPR+ pacs.009 carries one transaction per message, so a former multi-transfer MT201/MT203 batch cannot be translated into one pacs.009. Handling the underlying transfers requires a redesigned workflow, subject to the sender's applicable service and bilateral arrangements.
Migration notes
For the affected FI-to-FI cross-border scope, MT201/MT203 were withdrawn at the 22 November 2025 cutover rather than placed on Swift's limited MT-to-ISO contingency-conversion list. Confirm the scope of a particular service before treating this as a statement about all FIN traffic.
